Fasting 2024 – Fireside with Jesus

This fast is about uncovering hidden areas and the not so hidden areas of weaknesses and sin in our lives and exposing them to the cleansing power of the Word of God.

It is about protecting what we hold dear — our families, our wellbeing mentally, physically, and emotionally. It is about being a good steward over everybody and everything the Lord has entrusted to us including our life choices.

It’s about walking through this life with Christ and taking a stand for godliness. It’s about using the authority given us to combat our spiritual opponents. It’s about knowing we’ve already won, we’re just getting our souls dressed for the victory march!

So commences preparation to sequester ourselves in fasting, prayer and meditation before the Lord as we step into the year 2023.

2022 in Review

If you are a continuous reader of this blog you know I begin every year with a 21- day fast. I did so at the beginning of 2022 and I’d like to share with you some of the answered prayers.

I saw my granddaughter commit her life to Christ and my grandson recommit his life and get baptized.
Suffering with chronic uveitis, my vision diminished where I unable to drive for the last two years. During the fast I declared I would drive again. This past October I passed the vision test and am driving!
God has breathed fresh life into family relationships that were broken for years.
A senior family member was very weak in the hospital with COVID among other underlying health issues. After about 10 days in the hospital the doctors were not able to get her blood pressure under control and decided to send her to a rehabilitation facility that day. Through me God told her, “No. You’re going home.” That same day, at 10 p.m., the family member called me and exclaimed “I’m in my driveway, I’m home!”

Strange Fruit

Abel Meeropol, a Jewish teacher, wrote a poem made famous in song by Billie Holiday in the late 1930s. The song described trees that bore a strange fruit. However strange, this fruit was not an anomaly. Fruit hung from these trees as bloodied, struggling, kicking, black men and boys who were lynched for the slightest offences, real or perceived. Now let’s fast forward to the 21^st century. We’ve evolved right? We’ve become more civilized and don’t retreat to such tribal savagery?

It’s time to shake the dust of 2021 off and look with expectation to 2022. The first fruits of 2022 will be a statement of our faith in and devotion to God who will allow us to thrive in the midst of calamity. So, for 21 days we are presenting our bodies, minds and souls in personal sacrifice to the Lord. Upon doing so the Lord will hear our cry and answer our petitions during this 21-Days of Prayer and Fasting.

From Birth to Glory – Come See the King

Over 2000 years ago our Savior, the King lay wrapped in swaddling clothes.

You can meet Him TODAY clothed in the Light of His Glory.

There was no room at the inn for Him.

There is room AT THE CROSS for you.

Wise men journeyed from afar bringing gifts.

No matter what station you are in life, OFFER Him YOURSELF.

Shepherds abandoned their sheep to gaze on baby Jesus.

Leave your routine and BASK IN HIS PRESENCE.

We celebrate the timeless salvation He brought to humankind.

Come CELEBRATE the DELIVERANCE He still brings today.

This is the season we celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ our Savior. We are forever grateful He came, lived and died for our sins. Jesus Christ as a babe was introduced to only a few people that night in Bethlehem. I invite you to “see” Him as He is today.

Over 21 days beginning January 2 in the New Year 2021, I will be on a sacred pilgrimage to see the King in his present glory. Come “see” Him as you have never seen Him before, High and Lifted Up with His Presence filling your temple.

³²The God who girds me with strength and makes my way perfect.

³³He makes my feet like hinds’ feet [able to stand firmly or make progress on the dangerous heights of testing and trouble]; He sets me securely upon my high places.

Prayer

Lord make my feet like hind’s feet. Let me scale the heights of the mountainside to reach your Presence. Let the rocks and the crevices of your High Places be the footholds that give me stay as I ascend into your Glory. Let the thing that may very well take me out become my strength. O Lord make my feet like hind’s feet that when I traverse the valleys, I may be swift and sure. Make my eyes like hind’s eyes that when I go through my valley, you light up the dark places.
