Key Applications
Many of you know Joshua was the fellow who was appointed to take Moses’ role as leader of the nation of Israel as they made their way out of the wilderness after wandering for forty years. This was no small mission, bringing 600,000 men of war including civilian men, women, children and a splattering of foreigners into hostile territory. It is estimated anywhere from 2 to 3 million people crossed the Jordan River into Canaan.
Encouragement
Most everyone has some sort of calamity they have to deal with on a daily basis. My senses perk up when I read of someone whose ambitions surpassed their calamity to live a fulfilled, refreshing life. Two of my favorite people who have achieved this very thing are Nick Vujicic and Marcos Santos. See their stories in the sidebar section under Ordinary People Doing the Extraordinary.
I am not in a class with these men by no means but I’ve struggled with retaining my vision since I was thirty-eight years old. In one moment of struggle as I dangled between sight and blindness in anguish at losing the beauty of what my eyes beheld daily, I was moved to write What I Want to See. Thank God, He’s brought me back from that place and I did not lose vision completely. I wanted to share this with you because wherever you are in life, enjoy the beauty that surrounds you. See the beauty, feel the beauty, be the beauty. Looks fade, but memories don’t and the impression you leave is stronger than the one life has dealt you.
Self-Worth
I was up early, as most mornings I am, but this morning I really got up. I’d thought I’d start my day off right by meditating and talking with God.
