Fear! The Verdict Is In–She’s an Eagle!
The Eagle takes Flight
I ended the first blog about Fear with the question,
‘Would I be a chicken or an eagle?’
Well folks, the verdict is in.
I’m an EAGLE!
Here’s the video to prove it! But my disclaimer first. You may see where my inner chicken came out but know this, the transformation was not in any single moment, it was in the journey…I landed an eagle!
Over 275 names and families were released at 5,000 feet above the earth.
I jumped but we all soared!
Something Happened
Here’s the part where this is going to be hard to explain. Something happened in me up there. Have I rid myself of the fear of heights? It’s more like the knee-knocking fear I had has transformed into a healthy respect. And most important, I left the experience feeling emboldened. Emboldened like a David to a Goliath. A boldness, a confidence that in whatever situation I find myself in, my steps are ordered of the Lord and whether I fly or whether I die, it is of the Lord.
Didn’t mean to go morbid on you but open your eyes and look at the world around you. The world is a lot more scary than it was thirty years ago. There are a lot more things that can ignite a fear or dread inside of you. If you’ve been living forty years or more you see how much the world, our nation, each generation has changed. You need to acquire the steadfastness of Daniel, the bravery of David and the tenacity of Paul. And if you can’t relate to any of these Biblical characters, just be like the energizer bunny that has purpose that keeps going and going and going!
This life is more than a great job, a good spouse, a white-picked fence and 2.3 children. Don’t miss the point of it all. Maybe your Goliath is making that tough decision in spite of your heart strings pulling you in a different direction but making it anyway because it is right thing to do. You’ll face your Goliath sometime in this life. Maybe even more than once. Have you confronted the bear and the lion beforehand that will birth the fearlessness you’ll need to boldly face your Goliath one day? Not only to face him but defy him?
Are You Serious?
Prior to the jump I shared my intentions with a dear friend in Connecticut and he said with great concern “Marilyn, can’t you just climb a tall ladder?” After the jump I had others call me “crazy” in fun.
Don’t let fear reduce your aspirations to ladders when you should be soaring.
Don’t let the crowd, whether in jest or in their perception of clarity, deflate your outcome. Own it! Own you!
It’s Over, Now Go Get Mimi!
This last clip is of my grandchildren spotting me in the sky and them retrieving me when I landed. I am a disoriented at the very end. I actually had no memory of what happened after I viewed the sunset on the way down until I was in the car going home. Everything you see from the landing until the video ends I don’t remember doing. I was told that because I hadn’t eaten anything since the evening before my system crashed due to low blood sugar. So, my advice if you want to jump, eat a little something! But it still remains the coolest thing I’ve ever done!
My prayer is that I have inspired my grandchildren and you to go for it! Let your dream become your reality!

Yes I use WordPress and I don’t have coding knowledge.
I’m not sure exactly why but this web site is loading very slow for me. Is anyone else having this problem or is it a issue on my end? I’ll check back later and see if the problem still exists.
Loading speed depends on your browser. Try loading with a different browser. That should help.
