This fast is about uncovering hidden areas and the not so hidden areas of weaknesses and sin in our lives and exposing them to the cleansing power of the Word of God.

It is about protecting what we hold dear — our families, our wellbeing mentally, physically, and emotionally. It is about being a good steward over everybody and everything the Lord has entrusted to us including our life choices. 

It’s about walking through this life with Christ and taking a stand for godliness. It’s about using the authority given us to combat our spiritual opponents. It’s about knowing we’ve already won, we’re just getting our souls dressed for the victory march!

Every week ends with a prayer that addresses the week’s focus but also addresses the adversary’s role. You will find this address straightforward and forceful. After all, he (Satan) doesn’t play nicely.

Spiritual Warfare Prayer Week 1

Sin Confession

Father, we have presented ourselves to you on your altar to purge us from open and secret sin. There is no sin that we have committed that You will not forgive. We put that behind us. It is under the blood of Jesus Christ. The Word says though our “sins be as scarlet You will make us white as snow” (Isaiah 1:18). 

It is written that as far as the east is from the west, that is how far You have removed our sins from us (Psalm 103:12).

We rebuke the enemy when he tries to remind us of our past. When he reminds of us our past, we will remind him of his future. We rebuke you Satan when you say we aren’t good enough, not worthy.  We are delivered from the power of darkness and have been translated to the kingdom of his dear son.

We serve God who is able to present us faultless before the throne (Jude 1:24). We will one day stand by that throne and judge you Satan and your angels (1 Corinthians 6:3).

Forgiveness

We forgive others as God has forgiven us. Let there remain no seed of bitterness, anger, resentment, grievance against anyone that has offended us. We will love, we will not hold grudges. We will speak good things, and not let evil come out of our mouths against anyone who have offended us.  We move forward in the power of your might Lord. In all things we are more than conquerors through him who loves us (Romans 8:37).

Renewed

Lord, we thank you for renewing our minds and transforming us to your image (Romans 12:1-2). Old things have passed away and we have a new life in you. We are the righteousness of God in Christ (Romans 4:21-25). We are who God says we are.

Wisdom

Our mouths will speak wisdom and the meditation of our hearts will be of understanding. The Holy Spirit guides us into all truth so we will not entertain Satan’s lies! The Lord leads us in a plain path and we will detect the enemies’ ways and will see him coming. We will place our feet on his neck by the power of the Word of God (Psalm 91:13). He will come before us one way and flee from us seven ways. We overcome the devil by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of our testimony (Revelation 12:11).  And we testify this day, devil, that you are defeated in our lives, the lives of our spouses, the lives of our children, and our children’s children.

Fruits of the Spirit

Lord, I come in the name of Jesus against the lies spoken in our minds that say we are not good enough, not righteous enough, not worthy enough to be used by You. I rebuke that spirit of the old man who says we will never show forth the fruits of the Spirit because they are not in our character and we cannot change. Romans 12 says we have been transformed and our minds have been renewed. Jesus took on our sin so we can now take on his righteousness. Greater is Holy Spirit in us than any word you speak against us!

Let our character reflect the fruits of your Spirit. 

Instead of anger, let love be our response.

Instead of depression, let joy be our response.

Instead of worry or retaliation, let peace be our response.

Instead of impatience, let longsuffering be our response.

Instead of harshness, let gentleness be our response.

Instead of getting over on someone, let goodness be our response.

Instead of pride, let meekness be our response.

 Instead of anxiousness, let calm be our response.

Gifts of the Spirit

God’s Word says that he has given us gifts of the Spirit to edify the Body of Christ. I pray Lord for those churches that lack knowledge and experience with your gifts. Perhaps because of fear or lack of faith they teach that gifts are no longer in effect. I call out that spirit of fear, tradition, and faithlessness they walk in.

I pray Lord for those that have gifts will use them in wisdom. I rebuke those that would try to exploit their gifts by trying to manipulate the people for profit or notoriety.

Family Unit

Lord, I rebuke the enemy in the name of Jesus that tries to disrupt and destroy the family unit with perversions, infidelities, nagging spirits, incest, overspending, suspicions, jealousies, greed, gambling, lying, substance abuse, sexual abuse, physical and mental abuse, any aggression, lust, dissension, mistrust and a host of other things that causes division in the home. Let them be addressed at their very roots and destroyed. I pray that our families come together to pray together to stay together.

Lord I come against the spirit of unforgiveness and a hard heart. Break it up Lord, heal the source of their hurt in the name of Jesus!   

I curse the spirit of promiscuity among our generations whether in actuality or in imagination (pornography, self-stimulation). I call for the Spirit of God to wash their empty places with the blood of Jesus Christ and fill it with the love of God.

I pray for the unborn babies that have  the pronouncement of death conferred over them by their mothers. I pray that those mothers have a change of heart and realize they are carrying a life.

I pray for the children that are already here that are exploited, used, abused and even discarded like trash. Lord protect them, deliver them to safety!

Send the runaways that are walking the streets back home. Send them a protector Lord! Let the preacher, a mother, a father be sensitive to their plight and make a way for them to escape out of harm’s way.

All the children in foster care, in children’s homes, disabled physically or mentally, abandoned, save them Lord! They are innocent! 

Make a way for those trapped in a world of drugs and sex trafficking to escape. Protect those on mission to set them free from this bondage.  Trip up their captors Lord, confuse their plans and derail their transports. I send dissension among their ranks in the name of Jesus so they turn against each other.

I rebuke the spirit of confusion that has infiltrated our generations so they no longer distinguish their gender according to the Bible but have taken on to themselves evil practices that are foul and reprobate. Cause our children and people who have swallowed these lies come to know the truth and the author of that perversion. Take the blinders off their eyes Lord where they can see where it really originated, that of being a ceremonial part of idol worship. I call out the spirit of idol prostitutes who have made their temples the bodies of men, women, young boys, and girls. I curse that spirit of prostitution, promiscuity, and confusion to go back to the dead idol it came from and take your vile hands off our family and friends. I come hard against you spirits that are contrary to what the Bible teaches as what constitutes a man, woman and marriage. I pray for those that may not participate but take joy in the pleasures of those that do. 2 Corinthians 10:5 says I “cast down every imagination and every high that that exalted itself against the word of God and its righteousness. I call every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ by the witness of this word and in the name of Jesus.”

I pray for the elderly Lord. I pray that they are given their just due as they have served others their whole lives and not just put away and forgotten. I pray they enjoy their twilight years with family and joy. I pray for those that mean them harm that they will be discovered quickly and dealt with Lord. 

School System   

We come against the enemy that has infiltrated our school systems that promote ideals contrary to the Word of God. I pray for Christian parents to take a stand for righteousness and not fall in line with the masses. I pray for courage and boldness among Christian parents and faculty to protect our children. I pray for parents to put people in local and municipal offices with godly agendas to positively impact what we allow as curriculum and clubs in schools.

Financial Security

Lord I pray for financial sense and good stewardship practices among us. I rebuke the spirits of greed and keeping up with the Jones. Rather I invoke the spirit of contentment that whatsoever state we are in that we are satisfied until God sees fit to “enlarge our tent.” I rebuke the mindset of lack and poverty. I break that generational habit of settling for less and passing it down to the next generation. Deuteronomy says “we are the head and not the tail, above and not beneath. We are the lenders and not the borrowers.”

Show us areas in our lives that that may be hindering us from increase. Allow us to find those divine connections that will help us work our way up and out of financial lack. We break the chains and void all assignments of the enemy against our finances, in the name of Jesus. We break the chains and void all works of the enemy that causes poverty, lack, debt and failure that are directed towards us, in the name of Jesus. 

We thank you Lord, for being our Jehovah-Jireh, our provider.  We thank you Lord, for being our El-Shaddai, the God who is more than enough.

We speak a release of prosperity, promotion, favor, blessing, increase, business ideas, divine connections and partnerships, in the name of Jesus.   

God, you wish above all things that we would prosper and be in health, even as our soul prospers.   

Finally, Lord I curse all addictions at their roots. Whatever the situation was that caused this vulnerability I pray Lord that you heal them of that heart condition that they will not allow a past devastation to dictate their present or their future and affect the generations that follow them. I rebuke the hard addictions of alcohol, drugs, sex, pornography, gambling, and others. Lead those that addicted to help that heals!

I also rebuke soft addictions as well. Those that sneak up on us. Open our eyes to see where we have allowed a habit, a device, an activity, a food, gaming, television, shopping, sports, social media, a personality to become an addiction. Romans 2:1 says we (Christians) are inexcusable who judge another and we ourselves engage in the same sin (addictions).

Now Ephesians 1, says by the authority of Jesus Christ and all the power that was given him from the Father, far above all principality, powers, rulers, and dominion and every name that is named not only in this world but in the world to come, and he has placed all things under his feet. Luke 10 says he has given us power to tread on serpents and scorpions and over all the power of the enemy. We tread on you this day Satan and your army, we bind you in the name of Jesus within our lives, within our families, within our choices, in Jesus’ mighty name. Amen!

Spiritual Leaders

Lord, I pray for our spiritual leaders throughout the nation and the globe. I pray your protection on them right now in the name of Jesus as they preach your word, pure and unchanged. I pray that they take a stand on the truth of your Word and not compromise it. I pray for them as they are responsible for your flock. I pray that they would serve with the spirit of a servant as you did.  Protect and provide for their needs, and the peace in their home.

I also pray for those leaders who have used this position as a career and not a calling. Those that take advantage and manipulate the people for gain. I pray for those that will prey on the congregation and have caused them to become blind to their ungodly ways.

I pray for those leaders who have chosen filthy lucre and promote themselves instead of planting seeds of Christ and growing the Kingdom of God. I pray that they turn from their wicked ways and return to God in the name of Jesus.

I pray against those entities that have formed cults and call them churches. They have been responsible for destroying lives including physical deaths. Let the blinders of those that serve under them fall off and allow them to see the organization for what it really is. Free those that are captive and bring to light the true nature of the organization.  

Missionaries

I pray for the missionaries in the field that are out there every day fighting the elements, natural and spiritual to reach those spiritually deficient. 

They put their lives on the line, their family’s lives on the line to reach those that don’t know you.

I am asking for miracles on their behalf as they go into the hedges, highways, swamps, jungles, deserts, cities to reach the lost. Holy Spirit rise up mighty in them and let them reach their targets.

We pray for government leaders to be elected that have a godly agenda that will stand up for the truth of your Word  in the name of Jesus.

Harvest of Souls

Father, I pray for a harvest of souls. The field is white with harvest.  I pray that we all will answer that call to harvest souls   on our jobs, in the supermarket, on the streets, in the classroom, wherever we meet a lost soul.  Break the bonds of the adversary in their lives and chains that block them from hearing and receiving your Word.  I pray that their hearts would be tender and ready to receive the truth of your gospel.

Backslider

Lord, I pray for the backslider in the name of Jesus, who once knew You, but now is drawn away by the lusts of this world. Cause those things that lured them away come to naught. Let them again have ears attuned to Holy Spirit and turn again to you realizing that this world has nothing to offer them that is lasting.

Finally, Father, for this time that we have spent with you these 21 days of fasting and prayer, Lord, we give it all to you. All that we have prayed, all that we have spoken before you, we leave at your altar. But we rise from this altar of 21 days of sacrifice knowing you just a little more and loving you just a little deeper. We leave this altar sharing your love for people knowing we must get to work!

Father, it’s been real.
