Intercession
21 Day Fast Week Two – Global Intercession
Everyone is aware of the recent rift between Iran and America. The world is watching and most are asking both powers to de-escalate. My intention this second week of the fast was to focus on “The Community”, that being your family and neighbors. However, these events have impressed me to switch the third week’s focus to the second. So this week, please focus intercessory prayer and fasting on Global Intervention. Although we see two world governments posturing themselves against one another, there are submergent powers out of media focus that want to propel this situation in to catastrophic proportions. There are America’s allies that really don’t want to go there. Church we need to pray.
My Prayer
Father God you are never out of control. You’ve used the reigns of leaders from the throne of Pharaoh in Egypt to the prison cell of Desmond Tutu in South Africa to promote your plan to release those that are oppressed and under bondage. All over the world no thought, no deed, no plan slips by you. You take disasters and use them to propagate good. You turn our mess into messages of Righteousness. And those that will hear you will heed you.
I pray that the heart of your people be not consumed with fear of the calamity of men but the faithful know that everything is working to set up the world stage for your Second Coming to set us free from the encapsulating sin of this world to usher us into the New Heavens and the New Earth you have prepared for us.
Until then Lord Jesus, we pray for your intervention to protect your People, the Called-Out Ones. Set them apart, make them known by the faith that rises up in them in times like these. Let the strength of your miracles come forth in times like these. Let us, your Church, your Bride stand in these times and not be silent. I pray those in Christian leadership come out of their lofty places and speak Your Words. Is there not a prophet (courageous and anointed of God) in America? Have they all gone the way of political correctness and gain? Do any know Your Words?
We fight at Ground One. Ground One for us is in the heavenlies. Under the prompting of Almighty God we go to war in the Spirit against the principalities that create havoc, kick up sand, and puff themselves up. We know that our God will have evil running in circles, chasing its tail. Its tactics are old and worn and the Almighty God knows them so we rise up and war in fervent prayer against the forces of evil in the name of Jesus. Amen.
Almighty God’s Resume
What God has done He will do again.
I need permission for some literary license as I ask you to go with me on this journey to attest to the intervention power in our Powerful Champion, The Mighty God. I want you to go with me to heaven where the all-powerful God sat on the throne with legions of angels at his feet doing his bidding. I’m sure the angels spoke among themselves of God’s power for they had seen it. They had seen it when he created the galaxies, sun, moon, stars, the planets and finally what God considered his greatest creation, even above the creation of the angels themselves, his creation of Man.
First Blood
Jealousy formed in Lucifer’s heart.
‘How dare God put these meager beings, regard them above us, above me!’ So Lucifer became a contender among the angels, a rebel rouser that began to think ‘Well God’s not all that. I can run this show just as well as He can. Why should I be subject to Him? Why should he regard man more than myself?’
So Lucifer drew first blood.
Isaiah 14:12-14
12 How art thou fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning! how art thou cut down to the ground, which didst weaken the nations!
13 For thou hast said in thine heart, I will ascend into heaven, I will exalt my throne above the stars of God: I will sit also upon the mount of the congregation, in the sides of the north:
14 I will ascend above the heights of the clouds; I will be like the most High.
It’s On!
From that time the battle of the forces of good and evil was on. This was not a battle of mythical Greek gods battling for dominion or an epic battle between man-made superheroes and villains.
There’s nothing mythical about this challenge that we can simply close the book and the challenge is over.
This challenge is also not a Hollywood big screen production we can simply exit the theater and it’s over.
The Almighty’s position and power has been challenged! The stage is set for God to demonstrate his might to his opponent, Lucifer.
Lucifer Gets the Boot
When Lucifer was cast out of heaven, he went to earth to bring humankind under bondage of sin. Sin was not only a blow to man, it affected man and beast, it wrecked eco-systems, affecting earth’s land, air and sea.
Lucifer said I will show my might by destroying your prize possession creating a groaning in the earth.
Romans 8:22
22 For we know that the whole creation groaneth and travaileth in pain together until now.
God’s Response
In response to Lucifer’s actions, one would think that God would say, okay, I’ll pit my angels against Lucifer’s angels, I’ll use my might to squash his rebellion in one instant. I can take him out in this first round.
Have you ever seen a cat corner a mouse and instead of pouncing on it straightway, the cat paws it, plays with it. Letting the mouse feel he may possibly be able to get away? That cat ain’t all what it’s cracked up to be would be the thought.
Lucifer has been cornered in the earth, God knows where he is and what he’s up to. Satan is bracing himself, for at any time he anticipates God will strike with the legions of angels that stayed loyal.
Instead, He says,’ I won’t show my might through my angels or show my might through the power of my mouth that can create and destroy alike. I will show you my might through weak, earthly vessels of clay.’
At that I can imagine Satan, holding his belly and rolling in laughter as he says in disbelief,’ You’re going to show your might through what? You don’t mean these poorly fashioned, erratic creatures you call Man, do you?’ At God’s silence, I see Satan turning to his crew and exclaiming ‘We got this fellas! We got this! Let the games begin!’
I can see the hair stand up on the back of arch angel Michael’s neck as he boldly steps forward, raising his weapon, at the chiding of this traitor at his Creator but God waves him back in position as if to say, I’ll take care of this.
God rises from his throne, with a slight smile saying, ‘I’m going to get my army ready.’ The angels looked at one another curiously and parted themselves down the middle as The Mighty God made his way through their midst down to Earth.
Earthly Army
Then God sat at the beginning of Time and looked all the way to the beginning of Eternity and began to choose his army from among humankind.
He chose Israel, not because they were mighty in the earth. They were not, they were small in number.
He looked again. He needed a seed of man that would bruise Lucifer’s head as Lucifer bruised his heel (Gen 3:15).
To show his might God chose Sarah, barren and well stricken in years; God gave her a fertile womb at 90 years old to make good on his promised seed.
Satan saw God’s favor on Israel and said ‘I’ll create division and strife among his sons and cause them to turn on each other. Then I’ll kill them off through famine’.
Then God said ‘I’ll raise up Joseph to feed them.’
Satan said okay, ‘I’ll kill Jacob’s offspring through the hardship of slavery and bondage.’ God said ‘I’ll show my might through Moses. I’ll show my might through a stammering, frightened 80-year-old man. I’ll beat you and the gods of Egypt down with a senior citizen.’
Satan thought then ‘I’ll stop them at the Red Sea.’ God countered ‘I’ll give the Red Sea a new hairstyle and part it letting the Israelites walk through on dry land.’
Satan said ‘Well I’ll kill them with thirst in the wilderness.’ God said ‘I’ll give them water out of a rock’
Satan said ‘I’ll kill them with hunger.’ God said ‘I’ll drop manna from heaven and send a strong wind to bring quail for them to eat.’
Satan said ‘I’ll make them form a calf god and worship it’. God said ‘I will put my Spirit in the heart of my people and they will have my Spirit dwelling in them’
God Provides Allies and Protects Them
Satan sent the king of Syria and his army against Israel. God told Elisha where they were and Elisha told Israel.
Satan sent the Syrian army with horses and chariots after Elisha to shut his mouth. God sent a mountain full of angels in chariots of fire to surround Elisha. (2 Kings 6)
God uses Unconventional Methods
Satan sent Goliath with a sword to defy Israel. God sent David to beat him down with a stick and a rock. (1 Samuel 17)
Satan sent the Midianites and the Amalakites without number to was against Israel. God sent Gideon and 300 men with trumpets, lamps and pitchers to upset the host of their enemies. (Judges 7)
Satan sent Paul and Silas to prison. God sent an earthquake to bail them out. (Acts 16:22-26)
h came to Jesus’ friend Lazarus. Jesus, the Mighty God gave Death a raincheck and said not yet.
Satan came to murder the Son of God by torture and a cross. God sent His Spirit to raise Him and he became the first of us who will defeat death and be raised with an incorruptible body! We win!
The Conclusion of the Matter
We see from ancient history until now God has intervened in the affairs of humankind. You have your own personal stories that give further evidence.
The Almighty God will not stop now.
Pray that egos are put down and cooler heads prevail!
